PRAYER BEFORE MEDITATION
My God, I firmly believe that Thou art everywhere present and seest all things...cleanse my heart from all vain, wicked, and distracting thoughts. Enlighten my understanding, and inflame my will, that I may pray with reverence, attention, and devotion.QUOTE
Let us diligently ask for mercy, that we may receive whatsoever is necessary for us.
Saint Aphrahat
REFLECTION
Reflect on the quote for a while. Read it over a few times. Sit quietly and consider this: How can you ask for mercy today? What do you need from God today?THANKSGIVING PRAYER
Almighty and eternal God, I adore Thee, and I thank Thee for all the benefits which Thou, in Thy infinite goodness and mercy, hast conferred upon me.RESOLUTION
Based on this reflection, I resolve to avoid: Sloth. We cannot receive what we need to get to heaven if we are not diligently asking for mercy. Ask for mercy when you wake up. Ask when you are going about your business and running errands. Especially ask for mercy when things are worrying you and stressing you out. God wants you to ask because once you ask, you will receive. Once you seek, you will find.
